our beginnings in 1955 to our latest
expansion, our history is what adds that
little touch that makes us who we are. |

Design For Vision opened its doors for the first
time in February of 1955. It was founded by Donald R. Manning Sr.,
who relocated to Bucks County from Jersey City, New Jersey with his
new bride, Muriel. Don Sr. was coaxed into moving to the area by his
Uncle George Wood, who worked for U.S. Steel. Don learned his trade
in New York Citys optical labs in and in the U.S. Military. With his
great personality, accomplished optical knowledge and help from,
soon to be partner, Joe Cole, Design For Vision was created.
For many years the Design For Vision in Morrisville was the busiest
optical house in Lower Bucks County. Although Design For Vision
initially catered to unions and their families, their customer base
became diversified. People routinely came from over 75 miles away to
receive the great service, the quality eyewear and good
conversation.
In the mid 70's, Design For Vision decided to capitalize on its
success and open a second location on Woodbourne Road in Langhorne.
Initially this location was managed by Donald R. Manning, Jr. He
learned the trade from his father, working as a teen at Design For
Vision in Morrisville. After a promising three years, the Langhorne
office was turned over to Carol Manning, who apprenticed in
Morrisville, as well. In the mid 80's the Langhorne was taken over
by Ronnie Wilkinson, who runs the office very successfully today.
The store has since moved to its current location in Langhorne
Square on Route #1.
Opened in 1985, our New Hope store became our third location. For
the past 21 years it has been managed by Carol Manning Loblein.
Growing along with the New Hope area and with Carol's experience,
charm and outgoing personality, this location is extremely
successful.
Our fourth location was opened in Newtown in 2001 at the request of
many of our customers. Newtown was an instant success due to its
great location, selection of eyewear and expert staff. This location
is managed by Robert Loblein, who is a Grandson of the founder and
has over 8 years in optics.
Design For Vision is proud of its quality selection and professional
staff. All of the eyewear is fabricated in our state of the art
Morrisville lab. We are always investing in the latest equipment as
well as high quality technicians. Design For Vision is family owned
and supervised by Donald R. Manning, Jr., who easily carries on a
familys tradition of excellence. |
